Parlour Period Details

The Victorian era was a flamboyant time. Alison recreated that glorious extravagance throughout the house by designing elaborate window treatments and choosing antique furniture- all in keeping with a middle-class interior. She opted against fancy valances or cornices because she didn’t want to cover up the original woodwork. The Wedgewood-colored draperies, as seen here in the parlour are made from a silk damask Scalamandre fabric, layered over Quaker Lace “glass” curtains.
